Join us at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Wigram, Christchurch for a two-day UAV (Drone) symposium exploring the future of drone use in the electricity supply industry.
With UAV technology rapidly evolving, this symposium brings together regulators, asset owners, contractors, and technology providers to share practical insights and explore how drones can be used safely and effectively across the sector.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This symposium is for anyone involved in, or exploring, the use of drones in the electricity supply industry, from operators and engineers to safety professionals, regulators, and technology providers.
Day 1 – Industry insights and applications
Hear from industry leaders and practitioners on how UAVs are being used today, including:
-
-
- Real-world applications such as streetlight measurement, first responder support, and network operations
- Workforce capability and training approaches
- Data management – how to capture, store, and use UAV data effectively
- Case studies from across the ESI, including Transpower’s drone programme
-
Day 2 – Practical experience and future direction
Day two focuses on hands-on learning and collaboration:
- Technology displays and live drone demonstrations
- Site visit to Orion’s Norwood Substation to see UAVs in operation
- Open industry session on “what next” for UAV use in the ESI
The symposium also supports the development of two new EEA UAV guides, currently out for industry consultation:
- Safe Work with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)Best Practices for the Use of Unmanned Aircraft Around Critical Infrastructure Guide
- Safe use of Drones in and around Electricity Assets Guide
This is an opportunity to connect with others across the sector, learn from current practice, and help shape the future direction of UAV use in the electricity supply industry.
