ElectroNet: Principal Consultant – Power Systems Analysis

About the role

ElectroNet Consulting’s Power System Analysis (PSA) team is growing, and we are looking for a proven principal‑level consultant to lead complex studies, guide project delivery, and mentor engineers across our offices. You will scope and quote work, design solutions for generation and grid customers, and present clear recommendations to clients.

  • You will lead and deliver advanced connection studies for the Australian Market, specifically in the R0 and R1 modelling phase, including:
    • Reactive Power Capability
    • Dynamic Model Acceptance Testing DMAT
    • Wider NEM Model case setup
    • Connection Study Report
    • Benchmarking between PSS/E and PSCAD models
  • Quality Assurance (QA) oversight and technical mentoring for other engineers.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate, scope, specify and quote PSA projects
  • Be the Technical lead on managing delivery to time, budget and quality for Australian Projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and uphold robust QA practices.
  • Lead client meetings, progress reviews and multidisciplinary collaboration; identify business development opportunities and support tenders.

About you / What you’ll bring

  • Experience: 15+ years in the power systems sector (Australia preferred; equivalent utility experience in NZ/overseas considered).
  • PSA tools: Deep expertise with Siemens PSS®E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory; advanced automation (e.g., Python) is a strong advantage.
  • OEM Specific Knowledge: Experience with existing OEM models
  • Standards: In‑depth knowledge of Australia’s National Electricity Rules (NER) S5.2.5. NZ’s Electricity Industry Participation Code (EIPC) is nice to have.
  • Consulting strengths: Exceptional written and verbal communication, disciplined delivery under pressure, commercial awareness, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
