Current Projects:

When you join ElectroNet, you will be involved in designing and building many major electrical infrastructure projects across NZ, Australia and the UK.

This includes some or all of the following:

  • 400/220/110 kV Transmission Substations and 66/33/11 kV Distribution Substations,
  • 11 kVAC / 1500 VDC Traction Substations,
  • Grid scale Wind farms, Solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems,
  • Industrial and commercial electrical installations,
  • Large scale Fast DC EV charging hubs for cars, buses and trucks.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Senior/Principal Primary Electrical Engineer / Design Manager interested in designing and leading all types of electrical infrastructure from Substations to Industrial electrical systems to EV charging hubs.

You will be working within a multidisciplinary team, leading, designing and developing site layouts and electrical systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and safety.

This position can be based in our Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch offices with Hybrid options available.

Daily Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading and managing project teams as a technical lead or becoming a technical specialist in your field.
  • Designing HV and LV electrical systems, focusing on Primary design.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, to integrate electrical systems into the overall design.
  • Staying up to date with electrical system technology and industry regulations to ensure our design solutions remain competitive and compliant.
  • Preparing high quality technical reports, drawings, and presentations.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • CPEng or working towards it.
  • Proven experience in a consultancy environment delivering primary electrical design or design management.
  • Familiarity with electrical industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in teams and taking ownership of project deliverables.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a growth mindset and a proactive approach to learning and development.
