EEA welcomes responsibility for the Common Competency Framework

EEA is delighted to have taken over stewardship of the Common Competency Framework from Electricity Networks Aotearoa (ENA).

The framework was developed with input from across the distribution sector and sets out the core minimum competencies needed to safely work on New Zealand’s electricity distribution networks.

We are focused on making sure our workforce is equipped with the standards, guidelines and frameworks necessary to support an optimal and safe workforce. Our independence, expertise and work across the electricity industry mean we are well-placed to assume responsibility for keeping the CCF current and easy to access and use.

One of the key benefits of the CCF is it enables more flexible deployment of our workers where they’re needed – invaluable following major recent weather events. There’s also a huge opportunity to reduce our overall workforce needs if the framework is more broadly adopted.  A bit like demand flexibility for the workforce.   Expect to see us championing the framework’s benefits in the year ahead!

Thanks to ENA for their stewardship of the CCF to date – the framework will continue to be in excellent hands.

The framework is on the EEA website here.
