Developed and delivered in collaboration with ElectroNet, this programme is tailored for graduate engineers, paraprofessionals, and experienced practitioners. It aims to enhance participants’ competence across key aspects of power systems design in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Structured for professionals, the programme delivers flexible learning, including self-directed modules, industry-led webinars, and scenario-based assessments that integrate seamlessly with full-time work.

Programme structure
To be awarded the Professional Certificate, participants must complete :
- PSD-010 – Power System Components for Electricity Supply (mandatory prerequisite)
One optional module from the following:
- PSD-030 – Earthing Systems for Electricity Supply
- PSD-040 – Protection Systems for Electricity Supply
- PSD-060 – High Voltage Plant for Heavy Industry (optional but highly relevant)
Power Systems Design: About the Modules
Each module is designed for approximately 20 hours of learning and is eligible for Engineering NZ CPD credits. The delivery format combines self-directed study, online workshops, and scenario-based assessments to ensure participants gain practical and applied understanding.
Who is eligible for this course?
This programme has been designed for people who are currently working in the sector and:
- hold an engineering diploma or Engineering Degree
- are experienced vocational workers (eg, line mechanics) aiming to transition into engineering, with employer support
Cancellation policy
If you cancel at least 10 business days before the course commences you will receive a full refund, minus a non-refundable $100 administration fee. If you have not paid for your course, you will receive an invoice for the $100.00 administration fee. If you cancel within 10 business days of the course starting date, you will be charged the full fee, even if you have not yet paid. A replacement attendee is an alternative option, but please let us know before the course starts. Non-payment does not constitute a cancellation.
