    All

I have receved fromal advice this morning that ASNZS 1891:4 has been published by AU Standards.

There is a significant change in this that businesses will need to consider.
Applicable EEA SM-EI Rules and guides will be updated in the coming weeks to reflect this change.

Pictures below are reference the significant change (there are others) , and the asscociated definitions.

And knowing how slow Standards NZ can be at recognising updated content (i.e. ISO 31000, AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 2865 etc) anyone want to put a bet on how long it takes for them to acknowledge?

Thanks Graeme. So, am I right in interpreting that this means ladder usage will require falls-protection systems to be integrated? I know Branach offer these already – unsure on other providers.

Any indication of when this will come into force in NZ?

      Craig,
Requirements for climbing of portable ladders remains unchanged from previous standards.
Biggest change relates to the requirement for additional controls when in ‘work positioning’

With regards to when – Standard has been published on AU Standards website (not NZ standards yet), changes to SM-EI and applicable guide will be made within the month.
Over to individual companies to now determine their adoption strategy.

      Regards G
