    Hi all,

Am keen to hear from as many Networks as possible on your requirements for wearing of Insulated Gloves on de-energized network.

1: Do you require Gloves Cradle to Cradle?

2: Do you require gloves if HV Earthed?

3: Do you require gloves on LV network if Bonded?

4: Do you cluster earth to poles and still require gloves?

    5: Any exceptions?

    Thanks in advance……..

    1) Yes

    2) Yes

    3) Yes

    4) Only on poles with defined bonding point (BUSCK) and yes still require gloves

    5) Greenfields (New construction, no connection to any live network pole, no other consumer connections (no backfeeds))

    Reasons we apply above:

Meets requirements of DeEnergised overhead lines guides protection from voltage differences – Section 8
we’ve chosen to insulate the worker to limit exposure to voltage differences

    1. No, 2. No, 3. No (U/G we prefer to isolate rather than bond wherever possible), 4. Yes, we cluster but No, 5. We have exceptions relating to distribution boxes feeding directly from unfused transformers, due to arc-flash risks.

However, almost all of our urban network is underground, and rural overhead is far easier to isolate. We also primarily work out of insulated buckets.

(I think we may be an outlier).

    Stephen.
