Morning all,

We are currently looking at Live Line communication options around headsets connected to radio or bluetooth etc.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with any particular type or set up?

Any info to help out with the decision would be much appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Hi Jon,

We use Sena Expand mesh Bluetooth headsets. Model: SP122

    The team think they’re awesome.

    Hi Jon,
Not sure if it’s appropriate to share company solutions here, so admin please remove if needed.

One option you could consider is our 3M Litecom range check, it out on our website or email me for details – justin.clarke@safeworx.co.nz
Hope that helps!

    Kia Ora Jon,

We use the 3m Litecom plus units across distribution and Transmission for most applications. we have found them to be a reliable product. most of the issues we have experienced with the units come down to user error i.e incorrect storage- condensation and dust damage, uncharged units, lost batteries and inconsistent application where some staff have chosen not to wear them on site.

good luck finding some options, let us know what you find and how they work for you

    nga mihi

    Matt

    Hi Jon,

We have gone through a few iterations of communication systems, including some of the other suggestions in this feed and the connection via Tait radio’s. This system does connect to the Tait radio which provided further benefit to this choice of unit. We also wanted to ensure that staff could continue to utilise their safety helmets. We have settled on the installation of Cardo headsets which are made for motorcycle use. I have attached some images for reference. We use these for our Arborists, and for Helicopter work. These units use a meshing system which allows coverage up to 1.5 km’s (I think) far superior to blue tooth connectivity. They seem to be much more durable than the other systems we have used in the past as we aren’t having to replace parts regularly. The Arborists use these every day, where as our other teams use them on an as needed basis so we have a set of 7 specifically set up for that purpose. We did go through a process before we settled on this unit. We have had to make some minor adjustments to the hearing protection we clip to the helmets to make this work. I am happy to discuss further if you would like further details.
