Padlocks being stolen

Keen to find out how various companies are securing access to roadside equipment, in particular transformer cubicles, is it via locks, bolts, combination of both or something different.

I’m aware of one network company having over 200+ locks cut off recently as thieves are stealing them for the brass value.

    Hi Graeme.

On all cabinets we use a combination of padlocks, Cylinder locks, and bolts.

All TX cubicles have locks and bolts. Padlocks on the Hv, and Cylinder on the Lv end.

Lv Distribution Cabinets have a cylinder lock.

Padlocks are most commonly used, often paired with a cylinder lock on the HV side of the Tx. We’ve recently had one padlock cut off a Tx but fingers crossed, that’ll be it.

We have a mixture of padlocks and cylinder locks. Some cubicles with 2 doors are are bolted or internally latched on one side.

Many of us use the Abloy system of locks, which are not brass – so they don’t get stolen for scrap.
