    Hello All,

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone in the industry for your ongoing commitment and participation in improving the safety of our people. Your dedication and contributions have truly elevated the quality of the safety guidance developed by the SSPG, making a real and positive impact across our sector.

This year, we have achieved significant milestones together, including EEA guide updates to accommodate the changes to AS/NZS1891:4.2025, ran a series of comprehensive webinars to support updated and newly published guides such as the Permit Area, Traffic Management, and Fatigue guides. Special thanks to Matt Sadgrove for his efforts on the Fatigue guide.

We also conducted several member company visits meeting with yourselves and your field staff, attended and presented at a very successful HS workshop, and had a presence at the LMCJ competition in Christchurch.

Our guide development continues with the upcoming BESS, Drone, and LOTO guides set for publication in early 2026.

We celebrated 30 years of SMEI this year and have kicked off Project 30, focusing on the review of the SMEI, you will see further updates in the New Year.

It has been a busy and productive year, with even more planned for next year as we work on finalising our 2026/27 business plan, which will be shared with the industry following EEA Board approval.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support and dedication to safety. Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.

    Regards,

    Graeme Johnson

    EEA SSPG Chair
