Tēnā koe Mike,
We use a number of methods for measuring our performance of the Public Safety Management System. We have our annual review meeting, a set list of key performance indicators (KPI’s), we complete an annual internal audit and we do site self assessments which we have developed a template to document (which capture a desk top review of risks, local stakeholder engagements and communications and a site visit).
Regarding KPI’s here is what we use:
Lagging KPIs (no target set)
– Number of incidents involving serious harm to
any member of the public, or significant damage to any property of members of
the public, that result from defective design or siting, or failure of assets
or operational effect
– Number of (potential high consequence) incidents
that resulted from defective design or siting, or failure of assets and may
have resulted in serious harm to any member of the public, or significant
damage to any property of a member of the public or operational effect
Leading KPIs (targets set)
– Percentage of remaining risks with a high
residual risk that require further assessment or treatments to lower
residual risk to as low as reasonably practicable and tolerable
– Percentage of regions that have completed
engagement activities with the public/public groups on public safety (Out of 9
regions)
– The number of new risks identified by employees
or the public that have been assessed as posing significant risks to the public
– The number of implemented SMS improvements
resulting from internal/external auditor recommendations
– The percentage of site staff inducted in public
safety SMS
– Number of emergency exercises/drills completed
at an organisation level
If you want to see copies of our internal audit form or self assessment form please let me know and ill get them up here.
