About you:

You’ll bring:

  • 4+ years’ experience in the electricity distribution industry
  • A relevant certification or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a similar field
  • Strong knowledge of primary equipment and secondary systems testing, with proficiency in using a range of test equipment including Omicron, Doble, Fluke, and other leading manufacturers
  • Confidence using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with communications and SCADA/RTU equipment is advantageous.

The role:

This is a technically diverse role where you’ll work across the core systems that keep our network running – from protection and automation equipment to SCADA and communications infrastructure.

On the day-to-day, you’ll be hands-on with testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault response activities, supporting both planned and reactive work across our substations and wider field assets. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our network equipment performs reliably and safely, using high-spec diagnostic tools including Omicron, Doble, and Fluke.

You’ll contribute your expertise to project delivery by supporting upgrades and new installations, and providing technical input into asset standards, procedures and system improvements. The role also involves participating in after-hours fault response as needed and collaborating with teams across the business to share knowledge and deliver high-quality outcomes.

You will:

  • Carry out commissioning, testing and maintenance of protection, automation and communications equipment
  • Support the upkeep and development of SCADA systems and load control infrastructure
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of primary and secondary equipment in zone substations
  • Respond to faults and provide after-hours support when required
  • Collaborate with field crews, offering technical support and assistance with switching
  • Help shape technical standards, procedures and system improvements based on field experience
  • Mentor others and share your specialist knowledge across the team.
