About EEA

Policies

The EEA and its members must adhere to several policies in the conduct of their business.

Code of Conduct

The EEA values the free exchange of ideas and respectful debate, and we understand our responsibilities in ensuring that our community supports these values.  We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for participants at our hosted and sponsored events.

Harassment and hostile behaviour is not welcome at any EEA event.  This includes speech or behaviour (including in public presentations and online discourse) that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with a person’s participation or opportunity for participation in the event.

We aim for our events to be an environment where harassment in any form does not happen, including but not limited to harassment based on: race, gender, religion, age, colour, national origin, ancestry, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Restrictions on use of AI tools in relation to EEA publications

Important notice

The EEA allows the use of AI tools and platforms to analyse and provide outputs in relation to publications available on the official EEA website provided that the publications are not used by the AI Platform to train its large language model (LLM) or otherwise improve its performance or functionality.

There are two reasons why we do not permit AI Platforms to use our publications to train their LLMs. Firstly, these publications contain intellectual property and this use would constitute a breach of EEA’s copyright in, and cause damage to, our publications.  Secondly, this use undermines our ability to ensure that only the most accurate, up-to-date, information and practice is in circulation and being relied on by electricity sector workers.

Consequently, users need to ensure that any use of an AI Platform complies with this requirement.  It is essential that users undertake their own due diligence on an AI Platform prior to using it to ensure that the platform will not use EEA’s publications to train its LLM or otherwise improve its performance or functionality.

We are currently investigating options to integrate an AI tool into our publications website for members’ use and will keep members updated on progress.  Contact admin@eea.co.nz if you have any questions or concerns.
