The Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) Chief Executive Peter Berry will step down at the end of September, following the organisation’s annual conference in Christchurch.
Executive Committee Chair Josie Boyd announced Peter’s retirement today, thanking him for his remarkable service and unwavering commitment to the success of the EEA and the sector.
‘For more than 30 years Peter has been supporting our people to ensure they meet the engineering, technical and safety requirements of the day while also preparing for the future,’ she said.
‘He has navigated the dynamics of the sector with calm assurance and his knowledge of the industry is second-to-none. His unique ability to bring people together and problem solve around issues that matter will be sorely missed.’
The process of recruiting a new Chief Executive is kicking off shortly and anyone with an interest is encouraged to keep an eye out for the advertisements around Easter.
Peter says it has been an absolute privilege to serve the industry as Chief Executive of the EEA and to have worked with many amazing, talented, and dedicated people.
“I am immensely proud of the position we hold today providing engineering and technical excellence to the sector.
“However, the success of the EEA comes down to significantly more people than just my team. I would especially like to thank everyone who has volunteered their time and expertise over the years to support our work and the industry as we continually evolve to meet the needs of our communities.
“The EEA would never have been able to deliver in the way it does, without you.
“Now is such an exciting time for our industry as the nation electrifies and we face the challenges of this transformation. I know that the EEA is well placed to meet the future challenges ahead and to continue to support the industry and stakeholders in their future engineering, technical, capability, and safety journeys.
