Hi all. Could anyone who has recently done CIMS training please help with some basic info:

    – Ball-park cost (need to get this into next year’s budget asap)

    – Time commitment per course

    – Good providers

    Cheers

    Hi Marty

Get hold of your Council or regional council as they do it all the time (seem to), thats where we have done ours

    Hi Marty

Here in Christchurch, we engaged LANDSAR NZ (Land, Search and Rescue NZ) to do the CIMS 3&4 training. I cannot recommend them enough!! I had previously done CIMS myself through another provider and the LANDSAR one was heads and shoulders above it! They travel all over NZ delivering the CIMS training so worth giving them a call. We had about 20 people on each course which was 2 days and cost around $6.5k (and then organising our own venue and catering on top of that which was about 2.5k) Money well spent though! Great investment in your team.

Canterbury Civil Defence also use LANDSAR for their CIMS training and if I have an extra person now after the initial sessions, I can put them on a CD one.

Hopefully this helps, reach out if you need to know anything further 🙂

    Cheers

    Michelle

    Hi Marty,

    – Cost circa $8000 for 12-20 people (2 day course) – This will vary depending on providers and whether or not the training is CIMS3 or CIMS4 (we’ve done CIMS4).

    – Time commitment is 2 full days and about 4-6 hours additional reading and assessment.

    – Providers – we used Gerard Moore (Christchurch based), also LandSAR or their local CDEM.

    – Note to the forum, some CDEM now giving priority to local government staff, LandSAR in the South heavily booked up.

    Thanks
    Abbie

We also used LANDSAR. I echo and endorse the comments above.

The course was run jointly with one of the local District Councils in our area of operation which was very useful as both parties had different assumptions of what the other did.

    Hey Marty,

A slow reply, but will echo what is said above. Ours was a refresher course and we used Landsar and they were really good. $225 p/person. We had 20 people, with 2 trainers for that. There was a re-cap on CIMS roles etc, but then tailored the rest to how we would use CIMS at Aurora, and took us through some scenarios which were specific to our industry. It might have been the first time they had run refresher training, but they were open to making it work for us.
