    Hey all

As you may or may not be aware we are currently reviewing and digitising the LMCJ handbook, during the review process we have come across a couple of terminology queries we’d like to run past you.

    · Is it Pi π or H for a 2 pole structure

    · What is a HV 2 wire construction called (Single Phase or HV 2 wire)

o Not to be confused with SWER

    · Is it Yellow or White phase (or should we call them both as old UG used Yellow)

    Cheers

G and the LMCJ SiG Team

    Hi Graeme,

    At MainPower:

Two-pole structures come in both “Pi” and “H” configuration. “Pi” structures look like the “Pi” symbol (horizontal brace at top of two poles that overhangs each side). “H” structures have a brace that doesn’t overhang.

HV two-wire construction is referred to as single-phase.

SWER is referred to as SWER.

General terminology for phasing within the GIS and on plans is RWB, i.e. “White” rather than “Yellow” phase. The guys in the field often still refer to “Yellow” phase. I suggest specifying “White” phase, as this has been the industry standard for some time now, and include a note in the handbook referencing old UG/OH phasing terminology used “Yellow” phase rather than “White” phase. Note that coloured phasing tags are used on the OH, therefore, the issue of “Yellow” and “White” applies to both UG and OH systems.

    Regards

    Stephen

I’m with Stephen. Also AN/NZS 3000 Table 3.4 Note 2 (b) on page 168 has recommended colours and yellow isn’t one of them
