Subject: Seeking Insights on Fatigue and Sleep in the Workplace

    Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone in this forum might be open to sharing their perspective on managing fatigue and sleep in the workplace.

A bit about me: I’ve worked at Northpower for the past 13 years in various roles and am currently on leave as the Wellbeing Manager to focus on my family and full-time studies.

I’m completing a Master’s in Technological Futures, and as part of my research, I’m exploring the role of fatigue and sleep in workplace health and safety—particularly in industries like electricity, where fatigue is a significant risk.

I’m a certified Sleep, Stress, and Recovery Coach, hold a Level 4 Occupational Health and Safety qualification, and have completed a Fatigue Risk Management course through CQ University. I’m very passionate about helping people master their sleep and would love to explore how this passion can align with fatigue risk management in organisational settings.

This passion and my research has led me to develop DreamStorm, a business idea focused on bridging the gap I see in how organisations manage fatigue. While many workplaces address fatigue from a systems and work design perspective, there’s often less emphasis on equipping individuals with the tools to improve their sleep quality. With DreamStorm, I aim to help organisations build their people’s sleep capabilities through workshops, online courses, coaching, and educational content.

Don’t worry, this isn’t a sales pitch—I’m genuinely seeking to understand if the problem I perceive actually exists and is something Health and Safety Managers also recognise. If it is, I’d love to hear about your experiences with it, including any challenges or barriers you’ve encountered and what has worked well for you.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on:

    • Your experiences and challenges in managing fatigue risks.
    • Gaps or opportunities you see in supporting individuals with their sleep.
    • Any barriers you’ve encountered in implementing fatigue risk management strategies.

If you’d be open to a short virtual chat or sharing your insights, I’d greatly appreciate it. Feel free to comment here or message me directly.

Thanks so much for your time and expertise!

    Cheers,
    Lian

someone from our team at WEL would be keen to be part of a chat about issues and solutions. We are still counting hours worked as well as relying on HT drivers to manage their log book. A very analogue and non-holistic approach.

Hi Robert, that would be fantastic. Is there anyone you suggest I should contact?
