Hi all,

We are currently taking a deeper look at TTM and the significant risks associated when it is not well managed. We are keen to see what others are doing in this space in some specific areas. It would be greatly appreciated if you could spare a few moments to answer the 4 questions below:

1. Are you managing
temporary traffic management (TTM) requirements internally or souring
externally?

2. If outsourcing TTM, are
you engaging direct or through subcontracted arrangements? And are you insisting on the use of preferred suppliers?

3. Do you have a set of TTM
expectations which go over and above the requirements of COPTTM? If so, what are your key requirements?

4. Are you using any
physical speed reduction tools in your TTM sites e.g. temporary speed
bumps?

Thanks in advance for your time. Cheers, Alisha.

Hi Alisha

Note the answers below are in the context that we only have Level 1/LV roads:

1. Managed internally by a dedicated TTM team, with specialist external sub-contractor for assistance on more complex jobs.

2. N/A – see above.

3. Not formally – but we have submitted to Waka Kotahi regarding our work being

4. No we don’t: Most of our work is on the shoulder (the majority of our rural roads have very large verges) and we don’t impinge the live lane.

Cheers

Stephen.

1. External preferred supplier except for some Vegetation shoulder closures. We don’t mandate sub-contractors use our supplier though some have moved to them

2. Engage direct when protecting our staff

3. They comply with COPTTM. We also have short stop generics for faulties and inspectors. We’re really strict on pedestrian management.

4. No only side friction – close the cones up.
