TTM Enquiry

  • Posted by bcoradinepowernet-co-nz on 22 September 2021 at 4:19 pm

Hi Team, just reaching out regarding the direction others are taking with the new CoPTTM rules which is making it more onerous to obtain and maintain TTM qualifications. The question’s I’d like to ask are:

With the changes to CoPTTM, what direction is your company going with regard to the provision of TTM services:

    1. In-house – Bring TTM services more in-house, i.e. TTM
Planner, TTM Mentor, TTM Auditor, STMS & TMOs.

    2. Balanced – Maintain a balance between in-house and
    external contractors.

    3. Outsource – Move to source responsibility to external
contractors to provide as much as possible, i.e. TTM Planning, TTM
Mentoring (where required), TTM Auditing, STMS and TMO services.

    Kind Regards,

    Brett

    Hi Brett,

Here in the Waitaki, we have aligned ourselves currently on the outsourced side to contractors to look after that space for us. If it is a small job with basic setup, we then utilise our in house STMS’s to manage potentially.

    Cheers,

    Paul

    Brett,

Counties Energy have for some years now outsourced all TTM.

We use Traffic Safe for all TTM except the odd shoulder closure for vegetation works in the middle of nowhere. All fault technicians, asset inspectors and designer/planners have TC Inspector with generic TMPS.

Hi Bill – I have a question you may be able to help me with.

What training qual do your faultman require to align with the new CoPTTM?

We’re confused between inspector, TMO, and STMS.

      Thanks,

      Chelsea

Give Robert Parton a call. robert.parton@wel.co.nz 021528688. I cant recall but it wont be STMS as they have to do a practical assessment. From memory I think we are giving all staff a one off of the TMO and then we will them work under the Inspector TMP’s

We are 90% in-house with qualified TTM Planners, STMS, TMO, etc. we only use contractors when bigger jobs are required.

However to put it in context; all of our roads are L1 or LV so don’t have the complex and comprehensive TTM set-up some others have to do.

    Stephen.

P.S. We have submitted on the changes to CoPTTM, and also on the draft WorkSafe Guide for Working on the Road and Roadside (160 pages!!!) about how they are no longer fit for the majority of our activities.

    Hi Brett,

MainPower’s current position is to maintain a balance between in-house and
    external contractors.

    Regards

    Stephen
