Network Fault Management – Guide to Manual Reclosing and Hazard Management

During 2022 the Safety Standards and Procedures Group (SSPG) undertook a review of the EEA Guide for Manual Reclosing. The Guide was first published in 2001 and extensively reviewed in 2014 following the requirement for asset owners to implement a public safety management system. The 2014 review focused on determining the time interval following a tripping that a manual reclose can be attempted.

In response to an incident which happened overseas the latest review, the focus is more about gaining knowledge of each feeder to identify the risk of manual reclosing a circuit following an unknown fault on the network or report of damage. The Guide is now broken into two sections Section A – Guide to Manual Reclosing following a Fault and Section B – Managing Risk of Reported Hazards on the Electricity Network.

To support the release and implementation of this guide the EEA are holding an online Masterclass with presenters from within the industry.
