Afternoon Matt. Staff undertake a SJS (safe job start) regardless of the task or location. It’s just part of our values and doing the right thing

Thanks Bill, I’m assuming your safe start is a version of a take 5

    Hi Matt

We do not have a specific tailgate for switching:

If the switcher is a member of a work crew, then it is incorporated into the crew tailgate.

If they are operating on their own, it is incorporated into their solo worker tailgate which covers all their activities that day in chronological order.

Each switch may have different site-specific hazards, so we try not to be too generic.

    Cheers

    Stephen.

    Hi Matt,

It depends on what context you are talking about.

If you are meaning just switching itself not as part of a job, we went down the road of a “Take 5” but found it was fine for urban areas where the sites are very similar but was a bit too generic for anything rural.

For planned works we now have a task specific Electrical Isolation risk assessment.

For unplanned works we now have a specific Fault Response risk assessment which includes everything from leaving home to getting back home and can be amended as and when needed as you may start out just going to isolate a line/cable but end up doing a bit more. It has a few more prompts than the day-to-day form as the time of day and conditions are usually not ideal so it helps remind teams of what they should be taking into consideration.

I think you already have Brett Coradine’s number if you’d like to discuss further, if not I can pass it on 🙂
