We use either. It’s personal preference. Some staff like two web pole straps, others two rope lanyards. Others mix them – web strap and rope. Others use a 26 KN PPE sling and fall arrest though not when lone working with either a rope or web. Hi Graeme, we use both the webbing and rope straps. We encourage the teams to use the webbing strap for working positions and the rope strap for transition. The reason is the teams perceive the webbing strap as more secure and the rope strap pays out smoother for transitioning work positions.

We supply the teams with Petzl rope and Millar webbing straps unsure of whether the material used is Kermal or not.

Further to Brett’s comment, these are the current options provided to teams, with an emphasis on using the webbing strap as the primary restraint method due to a number of new staff being unfamiliar with the quick release mechanism the rope type use, which has led to a couple of 50 cent/5 cent moments when it inadvertently lets go a couple of inches…<div>

It really doesn’t want to post the QSI pole strap sorry. Anyway it is very similar to the Petzl Grillon but has a different and more bulky hand operation mechanism.
