We have number of vehicles that have restricted view rearwards. This is a particular problem with employees who may have to pullover and stop multiple times for their work. Have any of the forum members employed the use of rear facing cameras to assist with this problem. Some drivers seem to manage without issue while others find the restricted vision a safety issue, particularly Ute’s with bespoke body solutions fabricated on them.

    Hi Chris

All of our box body operational utes are fitted with rear parking cameras, and they are now specified for all light vehicle replacements. We have had technical problems with retro-fitting cameras to heavy vehicles.

(However, to be usefull they still require the driver to select reverse gear before pulling out into traffic which is not intuitive!).

    Stephen.

Unsure if there are any major or reputable brands that manufacture these, however you can purchase Chinese sourced digital rear view mirrors which use cameras for a live view.

If an older vehicle that uses the RVM as a reverse screen too, you would likely be able to find one with dual inputs, or that allows the screen to change view when in reverse

      Thank you, Dave.

We have reversing cameras but are looking at the digital RVM as an option. The problem seems to cause some drivers more anxiety than others. I have driven an RV with the digital RVM an it was great. (German built).
